Recently my wife and I were on a river cruise overseas and one night my eyes popped open at about 3 a.m., 9 p.m. back in the states. Staring me in the face was the illuminated clock next to our bed, ticking off the minutes as I lay awake staring at it. I thought to myself that if I looked at the clock long enough I might get tired and go back to sleep. Instead of this happening, all sorts of stupid shit started going through my head. The more I tried to get to sleep, the more stupid my thoughts became. After about a half hour I started thinking to myself that this might be a good start for a book. What could I call it? How about “What is Time and Other Things to Think About.” So there you are. That’s where this book idea came from. A day or so later I ran this idea by my wife and some friends as we sat in the ship’s lounge having a drink. The more I talked about my new book, the more they laughed their asses off. So I thought, what does it cost to write this, other than my time and effort? So here we go!
